Bologna Game Farm is the project for the development of video game prototypes and plans for the development and marketing of the product promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Bologna; coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and carried out with Art-ER as part of the actions to support cultural and creative industries, in collaboration with IncrediBOL! and with the technical support of IIDEA – Italian Interactive & Digital Entertainment Association
From the experience gained with the first two editions of Bologna Game Farm, the need arose to create a line of activities dedicated to mobile video games, as mobile video games have by their nature very specific modes of production, monetization and market access that are different from those of the PC and CONSOLE markets.
Through the BGF@Mobile pilot action launched in 2023, we gave companies and freelancers nationwide the opportunity to apply to participate in the pre-acceleration track with the goal of supporting development teams dedicated to mobile gaming.
In the first edition, 6 teams with sufficient technical qualifications to be autonomous in the production of a mobile video game from a technical and creative point of view were selected to work with in depth. Priority was given to applications from Emilia Romagna (presence of an operational office in the region).
In light of the results obtained with the first edition, the second edition of BGF@Mobile will open on May 14.
Proposals received will be evaluated internally on the basis of technical capabilities, soundness of the company/freelancer, and motivation/interest in mobile game development.
Particular emphasis will be placed on skills and experience related to digital marketing, business management (economic/financial experience), game development (programming, Unity3D), IT development (programming), and game development (UI, graphics).
