This year, the first part of the pre-acceleration program for the sixth edition of Bologna Game Farm concluded in the middle of summer! Over the past few months, the eight selected teams, all from Emilia Romagna, have held in-person mentoring days and remote meetings. We started with an in-depth briefing on each of the video games to highlight specific needs and set up project rework, team completion, market strategy, and production steps with the tutors.

The program continued with three acceleration days open to the entire Emilia Romagna gaming ecosystem, during which external mentors intervened. In the morning, mentors worked head-on with teams and the public, and in the afternoon, one-to-one on each project.

Specifically, on June 24th, with Ivan Venturi, CEO of IV Productions, we provided an overview of the national and international video game industry, markets, and publishing platforms, focusing on the production pipeline (both self-publishing and publisher support) and the design of the business plan.

l’July 8th with Alberto Casulini, Business Development Manager at Slitherine, we delved into the construction and budget management of a video game, with attention to the economic sustainability of the project and the useful elements for presenting it to publishers.

On July 9, Enrico Martina, Game Designer at Tiny Bull, led a mentorship dedicated to the pace of the game, from the player’s first experience to the progression over the long term, including beat charts, modular systems, and reflections on over scope.

On July 16, Moreno Lovato, Owner & CEO of RuneHeads, demonstrated how to optimize a project from the early stages of development and how to use data strategically. And how to survive the code!

While work with teams will continue remotely, open acceleration days will resume in September.
